Sportsman’s Guide aims for you to be fully satisfied with every purchase. This Return and Refund Policy describes our guidelines and procedures for returning products if needed. Please review this policy prior to placing an order. Contact us if you have any questions.

Returns Overview

Sportsman’s Guide accepts returns of most unused products for a full refund or exchange within 1 year of purchase. We also offer free return shipping for the contiguous 48 states. Some limitations and restrictions apply as outlined below.

To be eligible for return, items must be:

Return by Mail: Complete our prepaid return label process for free shipping. Print the label, affix to package, and drop off at any major carrier location for scanning. Do not use your own packaging or label.

Return to Store: Select items can be returned free of charge to a participating Sportsman’s Guide retail store location within 30 days. You must have the original receipt. Not available for firearms.

Large Items: Special arrangements are required for bulky items like treadmills, grills, furniture, etc. Contact customer service to coordinate pickup. Additional fees may apply.

Return Extensions: We may allow returns outside the 1 year period for certain situations like manufacturer recall, warranty repair, or damage claim. Contact us prior to returning expired items.

Refund Method: We will issue approved refunds in the original payment method within approximately 5 business days of receiving the return. Temporary credit may appear sooner.

Return Shipping

Prepaid Return Shipping

For customers in the 48 contiguous United States, we provide free prepaid return labels for standard ground shipping back to our returns facility.

To create your prepaid label:

  1. Access your Account Dashboard and select “Start a Return”
  2. Choose item(s) and reason code(s)
  3. Select “Prepaid Return Label”
  4. Print label during label creation process
  5. Affix label to package and ship via any major carrier like USPS, UPS, FedEx.

This will generate a prepaid label charged to Sportsman’s Guide. Please do not ship with your own materials or you will not receive refund of that shipping cost.

Return Shipping Refunds

If you paid for shipping on your original order, you can request a refund of the shipping fees by contacting customer service after we receive your return. Include the order number for the returned items.

We refund reasonable standard shipping costs on original order. We do not refund expedited shipping charges for next day, 2 day delivery, express, freight, oversized, international, etc.

International Returns

We do not provide free return shipping for international orders. You will be responsible for paying shipping fees to return items to our US-based returns facility. Contact us prior to returning international orders.

Return Process

1. Start Return – Access your account, select items, provide reason, print prepaid label if eligible.

2. Package Items – Repackage items carefully to avoid damage. Include original packing if possible.

3. Ship Items – Attach prepaid label to box. Drop off within 5 business days at carrier location of choice for scanning.

4. Receive and Inspect – Once received at our facility, items are inspected and validated against original order. Condition, completeness, and adherence to policy is confirmed.

5. Process Refund – Within approximately 5 days of passing inspection, we will issue refund to original payment method. Temporary account credits may appear sooner.

6. Notification – You will receive email confirmations when we receive the return and again once refund is processed.

Return Status Tracking

You can check the status of your return anytime under “My Account” on our website. Tracking shows:

This allows you to see where your return is in the process. Please allow sufficient time for each step. Contact customer service if your return seems to be stuck in a status.

Refund Details

Once returned items pass inspection at our facility, refunds will be issued typically within 5 days of receipt back to the original payment method:

Credit Card – Refund posted back to same card used at purchase. Can take 1-2 billing cycles to appear.

Debit Card – Funds deposited back to bank account linked to debit card.

PayPal – Refund posted back to PayPal account.

Gift Card – Original gift card balance replenished.

Store Credit – Account credit restored.

For payment methods no longer available, refund becomes an account credit by default.

Funds may temporarily show earlier as a credit on account while being processed. If no account credit appears after 14 days, please contact us. Refunds only cover cost of item(s) returned unless shipping charges eligible for reimbursement.

Exchanges are effectively treated as a return plus reorder. items are inspected prior to replacement shipment. Exchange shipping incurs standard costs just like a new order.

Return Reasons

Selecting an accurate return reason code helps us understand why the item is being sent back and improve our service. Available codes include:

Return Exclusions

The following categories of items are not eligible for return to Sportsman’s Guide, except where defective or required under state laws:

Ammunition

Firearms – Must be returned to an FFL dealer

Prescription items – Lenses, medications, etc.

Hazardous materials

Mattresses

Perishable goods – Food, plants, etc.

Assembly required items – Missing original parts needed for reselling

Items requiring refrigeration/freezing – Cannot be safely returned

Personal care products – For health reasons

Custom or personalized orders – Made to order for you

Digital downloads – Books, movies, music, etc.

Gift cards and prepaid cards – redeemable for purchase only

Items damaged after receipt – By improper use, accident, neglect, abuse, etc.

Clearance merchandise – Heavily discounted limited quantities

Memberships/Subscriptions

Computer software – If unwrapped or activated

Special order items – Non-refundable deposits

We reserve the right not to accept returns we deem excessive or abusive in volume. Items lacking original packaging, missing accessories/parts, or not in resalable condition may be rejected or assessed fees upon inspection.

Receipt of Wrong Item

If you receive an entirely different item than what you ordered due to our error, contact Sportsman’s Guide customer service immediately. We will arrange pickup of the incorrect item and ship the correct item to you at our cost.

Quality or Defect Problems

If an item arrives damaged, defective, or not matching the quality you expected based on the product description, please accept delivery from the carrier while noting the issue, then contact us right away providing photos and details of the problem.

Per our Warranty Policy, we will offer repair, replacement, or refund on eligible items with manufacturing defects covered under warranty. We will troubleshoot defective items to determine if return is required versus providing replacement parts. Items damaged in transit must go through our claims process.

Changing Your Mind

We understand plans change. You can return most eligible items within 1 year if you simply have a change of heart as long as products are unused and in original condition.

Selecting the “Changed Mind” return reason helps us understand the return is not due to any problem with the item itself. Standard shipping rates will apply for any exchanges if you order a replacement item after returning the original.

Refused/Undeliverable Orders

If an order is refused upon delivery or unable to be successfully delivered after multiple attempts, the package will be returned to our facility. Upon receipt and inspection, we will issue a refund less the original shipping fees, provided the refusal was not due to an error on our part like incorrect address. Carrier return shipping and restocking fees may apply.

Price Adjustments

If an item you purchased goes on sale or receives a price reduction before your order ships, please contact customer service and provide your order number. We are happy to retroactively apply the lower price for you on orders that have not entered fulfilment yet whenever possible.

Receiving Refunds/Exchanges

Once we receive your return at our warehouse and it passes inspection, we will process the refund or exchange within approximately 5 business days. Approved refunds must be in the same payment type originally used for purchase. Exchanges result in a new order for the replacement item.

We do not offer refunds for return shipping costs unless original order qualified for free shipping or other guaranteed delivery promotion. We provide return labels as a courtesy – shipping is non-refundable if you paid for delivery originally.
